Getting rid of wallpaper can indeed be hard and messy if not done deftly. Here are some tips that can guide one to make it as easy as possible. Most wall papers will have a protective layer that repels water and to loosen this glue it is good to have a paper scorer or a paper tiger. These really help in scoring the wallpaper.
Once this is done, the next step is softening the paste and in this one can use the traditional steamer that can be rented from paint or a hardware store. It does not require one to use a chemical wallpaper remover but one is only required to stem a small segment and then bring the paper out. A wall scrapper can be used to get the paper off the wall.
If one decides to use a chemical wallpaper remover, it is then necessary to wet a large area and then allow it to wet before pulling it up. A DIF is highly recommended for this exercise.
